ALMOND SUGAR COOKIES


Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (we used almond)
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Additional sugar

Directions:
1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter, shortening and sugar.
2. Add egg and vanilla; mix well.
3. Combine flour, baking powder and baking soda; gradually add to the creamed mixture.
4. Shape into 1-in. balls. Roll in sugar. Place on greased baking sheet; flatten with a glass.
5. Bake at 350 degrees F for 10-12 minutes.
